The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has sent an invitation to opposition parties, associations and individuals for talks on joint participation in the local elections in Cetinje, "Vijesti" has learned.

An invitation to talks about association was sent on Monday to the presidents of the Cetinje committees of the Civic Movement URA Filip Adžić and Danilo Mrvaljević of Democratic Montenegro.

In the letter signed by the head of the SDP committee club in Cetinje, Nikola Đurašković, and which "Vijesti" had access to, talks are proposed about the possible pre-election unification of opposition political subjects, support of citizens and independent individuals.

"The goal of the planned activities would also be the fight for an election process with as few abuses as possible, as well as identifying the principles on which the future political cooperation of the opposition parties in Cetinje will be based. We consider this process necessary in the context of presenting a healthy political alternative to the citizens of Prijetina in the form of progressive forces that will be the key factors of the future local government", the letter states, and points out that the first meeting should be organized in an appropriate period at the level of the board president.

The call for the unification of the Cetinje opposition is the first step in the implementation of the Manifesto on the gathering of progressive forces, which was presented by SDP president Ranko Krivokapić at the beginning of June, and which defines the key political elements on which the policy of the new government would be based, after the change of government.

In that document, among other things, it is stated that progressive forces are considered "all citizens, political entities and other segments of civil society, the media, who are ready to start building an independent, civil, socially just and Euro-Atlantic Montenegro from the constitutional given." broad social agreement on a long-term program of democratic reforms and economic-social renewal of the state".

In the Manifesto, it was also pointed out that, although the opposition is politically diverse, there is a great similarity in the concept of preserving state resources, development priorities and the rule of law as a key prerequisite for sustainable development.

Pointing out that the SDP achieved a good result in the parliamentary and previous local elections in Cetinje, the interlocutor of "Vijesti" from the SDP said that in Krivokapić's party, they assessed that an initiative for association should be launched in that city first. He said that the civic concept has strong support among voters in Prijestinica, which is why we need to work on unification.

"We want to show in practice how the progressive part of the political public should cooperate and thus facilitate changes. We hope that the leaders of other parties also understand that we can only bring about changes through cooperation," he said.
