Prime Minister in technical mandate Dritan Abazović, who is participating in the Bled Strategic Forum, said yesterday that Slovenia is an important and reliable partner of Montenegro on its way to the EU.
He announced that the defense ministries of the two countries will sign the agreement today.
"We are moving on. We are doing the right things for our citizens and realizing the European agenda. Montenegro is on the right path," Abazović said in a video statement after arriving in Slovenia.
This year, the Bled Forum is organized under the title "Solidarity for the Global Future", and it will be dedicated to security challenges: climate, energy, food, water and cyber security challenges, which cannot be answered without the solidarity of all countries. The Bled Strategic Forum is organized as a platform for the exchange of views, experiences and ideas, as well as finding innovative, diplomatic solutions in relation to today's and tomorrow's challenges.
"The participation of the Montenegrin delegation at the 18th Bled Strategic Forum will be an opportunity to point out the importance of the presence of the EU in the region, as well as the commitment of European institutions and member states to the enlargement policy, bearing in mind the geopolitical and strategic relationship of the EU towards the Western Balkans. After joining the NATO alliance , full membership in the EU remains the primary strategic goal of Montenegro, and the Forum will highlight Montenegro's commitment to regional cooperation and good neighborly relations, as well as deepening cooperation and joint political representation of the region in dialogue with the EU. The Bled Strategic Forum will be an opportunity to emphasizes the importance of the process of European integration because the EU must not slow down the European integration of the Western Balkans," writes the Platform about the participation of the Montenegrin delegation at the forum.
As announced by the Government, the Prime Minister will also participate in the Leadership Panel that will be held today.
In addition to Abazović, the announced panelists include the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Nikolaj Denković, the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovačevski, the President of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Aljbin Kurti.
"In addition to participating in the panel, Abazović is expected to have numerous meetings on the sidelines of the Bled Strategic Forum," the announcement reads.
The Bled Strategic Forum (BSF) is an international conference organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia with partners, which once a year (since 2006) gathers high-ranking officials from the region and Europe, as well as distinguished representatives of the private and civil sectors.
This year's forum will contain three panels that will refer to the future of Europe, and in connection with the Eastern Partnership, the Southern Partnership and the Western Balkans. A panel on the Western Balkans is planned at the level of foreign ministers, on the second day of the forum on August 29.
