The political director of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Tarzan Milošević should attend the meeting of the party's Ulcinj committee where the date of the elections in that city will be decided, "Vijesti" has learned. The proposal of the Ulcinj committee will be forwarded to the party headquarters, which should make the final decision.
At the session, which should also be attended by the coordinator of the DPS Presidency, Halil Duković, it will most likely be proposed that early elections be called in Ulcinj, in order to hold them simultaneously with the voting in Mojkovac, Petnjica and Centinj. Elections in those three municipalities should be held on November 26.
Regular elections in the southernmost Montenegrin municipality should be held in February 2018, but the ruling party has repeatedly said that they should be organized earlier.
The president of Ulcinj DPS Ljoro Nrekić told the local media that the elections should be called for November 26 because the government in that city is not functioning, while the deputy from Ulcinj Ljuiđ Škrelja pointed out that the voting should take place by the end of the year because "from mid-December to mid- January is the time of state and religious holidays".
Representatives of the majority of Albanian parties that form the ruling coalition in Ulcinj with the DPS believe that the SO should not be dissolved before the legal deadline and that the vote should be held in February. The president of the municipality and the leader of the Force, Nazif Cungu, said that early elections would slow down the implementation of projects that should start after the tourist season.
The ruling coalition in Ulcinj, apart from DPS, consists of Forca, the Democratic Party and the Democratic Union of Albanians (DUA). The government crisis in that city has been going on for months due to disagreements between the Force and DP.
