The acting (acting) president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Danijel Živković called on the president of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) Andrija Mandić and the leader of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) Milan Knežević to show their new "European" orientation and postpone the census in accordance with the position of the European Parliament (EP).
"Given that Milan Knežević, deputy and holder of the ZBCG (For the Future of Montenegro) list, is calling on the DPS to control the process, because we believe he himself sees the distrust of numerous political and social organizations, it would be most expedient for him, as a representative of the new majority, to request a postponement census from the government, which will depend on the support of its political subject. Then we would understand this invitation to participate in the control of the process as an expression of goodwill to establish trust through an agreement. Since the government depends on the support of the ZBCG coalition, and Milan Knežević is part of that majority, the best contribution will be made by calling on the government to postpone the census for a few months until the control mechanisms are agreed upon," Živković said in the announcement.
He added that he does not believe that "the holder of the ZBCG list and a long-time member of parliament is ignorant, that it is now impossible to carry out the control because the census commissions as well as enumerators and instructors, mostly activists and officials of his political subject, have already been elected".
"Milan Knežević will not mind if we say that we do not trust those people. If Knežević remembers the preparation of the census when he was in the opposition in 2011, in contrast to the current actions of Monstat and the Government, then the demands of the opposition were listened to. If he does not believe me, let him look at the archive, find and read what his colleague and soon-to-be President of the Assembly of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, said on that occasion. He will see that all control mechanisms were in place and that the opposition at the time was very satisfied with the level of transparency and inclusiveness of the entire process," said Živković .
According to him, "since Mandić is now the main figure in the government, it would be expected that he would call for the postponement of the census, considering that the opposition does not have the possibility of controlling the process, nor can the supervision of the process be established retroactively, since the entire procedure for selecting commissions, instructors, enumerators has been completed ".
"Nevertheless, such expectations are unrealistic, since we know the purpose of the census and how everything was done to fake it, in which the activists of the parties of Andrija Mandić and Milan Knežević, as well as members of extremist organizations who need to hit us doors, but now disguised as enumerators. After all, when Knezević says that this process is not a political performance, let's remind him that neither were the elections in Šavnik and Andrijevica, and they turned into the worst circus. And that thanks to the activists of his and Mandić's party, now probably reassigned to commission members, instructors and enumerators," Živković concluded.
The census is scheduled to take place from November 1 to 15.
