Deletić: Šehović committed a criminal act, I hope that he will answer for calling for resistance as soon as possible

The General Secretary of the Law of Montenegro, Aleksandra Deletić, today in the Security Center (CB) Podgorica, made a statement regarding the request of the Basic State Prosecutor's Office, and regarding the criminal complaint she filed against the President of the Social Democrats of Montenegro, Damir Šehović, accusing him of having committed a criminal offense by calling for a boycott of the census. the offense of calling for resistance from Article 378 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro.

Deletić filed a criminal complaint against Šehović on October 20.

Prava Montenegro announced that Deletić gave the following statement to the competent police officer:

"Regarding the criminal complaint that I submitted to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica on October 20.10.2023, 18.10.2023, and in connection with the request of the same prosecutor's office, I state that on October 378, XNUMX, in a statement to the media, I read the statement of the president of the political party Social Democrats of Montenegro, Damir Šehović, in which he calls citizens to boycott the population census in Montenegro. As far as I have noticed, most of the Montenegrin media reported the same statement by Damir Šehović. Due to the said statement, I believe that Šehović committed the feature of the criminal offense of calling for resistance from Article XNUMX of the Criminal Code of Montenegro and in the way that he called for resistance and disobedience to lawful decisions and measures of state authorities.

At the moment when Šehović called on the citizens to resist, the Decree on determining the period of the population census in Montenegro was in legal force, which was then harmonized with Article 2 of the Law on the Population Census. I have already stated all the other details that are required in the content of the criminal report that I submitted to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica."

In the statement of Prava, it is added that after the statement, Deletić said that she was glad that the acting prosecutor started to act on her criminal report in a short period of time, as well as that Šehović will also be questioned at the request of the same prosecutor's office.

"I hope, given that there is no doubt that Šehović's statement in question fully fulfills the elements of a criminal offense, that Šehović will be held accountable for the criminal offense of inciting resistance as soon as possible. Also, Prava Montenegro filed criminal charges for the same criminal offense and against Acting DPS President Danijel Živković, the Presidency of the Liberal Party of Montenegro, the General Secretary of the Social Democrats of Montenegro Miloš Čelanović, the Spokesperson of the Social Democrats of Montenegro Nikola Zirojević and the Deputy President of the SDP Borislav Banović, and we expect the prosecution to determine these criminal charges as well applications," Deletić said.
