The President of the Nikšić Municipal Assembly, Nemanja Vuković, congratulated all the citizens of Montenegro on Njegošev Day - the Montenegrin holiday of culture, it was announced from the Assembly Affairs Service of the Nikšić Municipality.
"Exactly 210 years ago, Petar II Petrović Njegoš was born - our teacher and educator, hero, ruler and bishop, poet and philosopher. He was born - to never die, but to be our 'port', an eternal 'monument' to everything beautiful and exalted in the being of our people, the 'bulwark' against which evil, stupidity and lies break, and which shields us from current and future 'clouds of storms'", said Vuković.
"By word and deed, prayer and pen - the 'hermit from Cetinje' has been paving the way for freedom, education and philanthropy for us for centuries. Therefore, it is our 'most sacred duty' to relentlessly fight for knowledge, truth and justice, and to put our foot on the neck of 'tyranny' ' and let's bring him 'to a better knowledge of rights.' Only if we work together, continuously on the comprehensive progress of Montenegro — we can call ourselves his true admirers and followers," it added.
Vuković said that Nikšić will soon receive a monument dedicated to Peter II Petrović Njegoš.
"'I could not remember any, even a short period in my life without Njegoš's verse, without thinking about Njegoš,' wrote our Nobel laureate, Ivo Andrić, on one occasion. In this context, once again I congratulate everyone on Njegoš's Day, with the wish that and in the time ahead, the more we 'consult' with our great man, the more we will be able to see more of the 'but the one under the hill', thus rising above everything that quarrels, divides us and slows us down in achieving our set, big goals - for the good of our people and country", concluded Vuković.
