The Presidency of the Social Democrats of Montenegro accepted, at today's session, the Agreement on the conditions for holding the population, household and apartment census, which was proposed by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić after intensive discussions with opposition political entities in the previous days.

It was announced from SD.

"The agreement provides for census control mechanisms that we insisted on the most, starting with the participation of opposition representatives in census commissions, the re-election of instructors and enumerators on a parity basis, manual control of the agreed sample of census forms, the banning of campaigns related to the census, the establishment of a parliamentary working body that would supervision over the management of the census, including the creation and implementation of software that will enable each individual to check the correctness of the data after entering it into the database", it was concluded at the Presidency of the Social Democrats, as stated in the announcement of that party.

They emphasized that the further activities of this party towards the census depend solely on the Government's determination to fully implement each item of the agreement.

"Prime Minister Spajić's actions so far in this matter were stimulating for building a certain degree of trust. It is now up to the Government to preserve that relationship by implementing all the items agreed upon in the agreement within the given time frame, so that we can have a quality population census, the results of which will not be contested by anyone," the SD announced.

Our further actions will certainly depend, they stated, on the aforementioned implementation of the control mechanisms provided for in the Agreement.

"By accepting the Agreement, we extend our hand to successfully bring this demanding and politically sensitive process to an end. If there is no readiness for the full implementation of what was agreed upon, we will be determined to prevent any form of potential abuse and eventual fabrication of data, which without the foreseen control mechanisms would which we have been insisting consistently since the start, together with other opposition colleagues, as well as colleagues from civil society and national councils, almost certainly happened," the SD announced.
