Acting president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijel Živković announced that he will run for president of that party.
In the Argumenti show, on the Television of Montenegro, when asked about the party's candidacy, he said that the DPS, as well as Montenegro, are facing serious challenges.
Živković, as reported by RTCG, said that he believed that any deviation from his position would mean complete irresponsibility and avoidance of challenges.
"That's why I will submit a candidacy for party president in the next immediate elections," said Živković.
Živković announced that he does not agree with the assessment of the former prime minister from that party Duško Marković - that their MPs acted badly in the Assembly during the election of the President of the Parliament and the election of the Government.
"What I cannot agree with is the harsh assessment of the group of deputies who showed a serious and responsible attitude towards current issues during the election of the President of the Assembly and the election of the Government. Also, (Marković's) assessment of the work of younger colleagues is harsh, but everyone has straight to your point of view," said Živković.
In this way, he responded to the RTCG journalist's statement about Marković's recent announcement that he was thinking about founding a new party.
He previously said that there are always attempts to subvert the DPS, that there are divisions or dissonances within that party.
"There may be different opinions about phenomena in our society or positions in our society. I watched the interview given by Mr. Marković and nothing surprised me in the narrative, nothing that I had not already heard from Mr. Marković at various party meetings. That is the value of DPS... expressing a different opinion," Živković announced.
He said that the DPS is a functional unit and that Marković will be a part of it "as long as he considers it necessary".
"But everyone has the right to their own view in relation to the current political and social situation".
He said that he did not get the impression that the formation of Duško Marković's party would happen, but that the former deputy president of the DPS, Milo Đukanović, spoke about the necessary need to consolidate the state-building bloc.
"Those policies that were previously dedicated to European integration and those policies that showed a responsible attitude towards the national interest", explained Živković.
"Whether Mr. Marković will form a party is a question for him. But I say, the goal is to unify the state-building bloc, not to fragment it."
