With high evaluations of interstate relations, the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, during the conversation with Lasl Kover, the President of the Parliament of Hungary, expressed his gratitude for Hungary's continued support for the European future of our country, Mandić's office announced.
As stated in the announcement, the European perspective of Montenegro and the region was the main topic of discussion between the two officials, with mutual agreement that the stability of the Western Balkans is of particular importance for the EU.
Mandić welcomed Hungary's exceptional contribution during the negotiation process, apostrophizing the importance of integrating the entire region into European structures.
In this context, he emphasized that the fact that during the upcoming presidency of the EU Council in the second half of 2024, Hungary defined the enlargement policy as one of its priorities is of great importance.
"The President of the Hungarian Parliament said that, as during the previous processes, we can count on the strong support of his country in the future. He confirmed friendly assistance to Montenegro, stressing that today's Conference is an opportunity to intensify parliamentary contacts. President Kover sent messages of encouragement to Montenegro, with the emphasis that during the presidency of the Council of the EU, his country will actively contribute to the accession process, which is one of Hungary's national and strategic goals," it added.
"During the talks, it was assessed that the two countries have an extremely fruitful and high-quality cooperation, which is especially contributed to by the frequent dialogue between the parliaments of the two friendly countries," the announcement concludes.
