The Ambassador of the United States of America (USA), Judy Reising Reinke, stated that she expects Montenegro to remain a reliable NATO ally and implement the reforms necessary for rapid progress towards membership in the European Union (EU).
Rajnke, during the conversation with the Vice-President of the Montenegrin Government, Srđan Pavićević, pointed out that Montenegro is an important country in the region, as well as that the USA supports its aspirations to become a full member of the EU.
"The ambassador expressed her expectation that Montenegro will remain a reliable NATO ally and implement the reforms necessary for rapid progress towards EU membership," said a statement from Pavićević's cabinet.
As it was added, Rajnke particularly emphasized the importance of Montenegro remaining fully aligned with the EU's foreign and security policy.
Pavićević pointed out that Montenegro got a strong government with a firm commitment to intensifying reforms at all levels, which lead to an increase in the country's economic potential and a better standard of living for citizens.
He added that, consequently, this implies full membership of Montenegro in the European Union, active and credible membership in NATO and improvement of good neighborly relations.
According to Pavićević, these are unequivocally the main foreign policy priorities of Montenegro.
"As a reliable partner of the Quinte countries and the EU, Montenegro remains on the line of European and Euro-Atlantic values," emphasized Pavićević.
He emphasized that the focus of the work of the 44th Government is judicial reform and the continuation of the fight against corruption and organized crime.
"The interlocutors agreed that the relations between Montenegro and the USA are based on friendly foundations, with continuous development - both bilaterally and through strategic partnership within NATO, and that such cooperation will be continued in the future, to the satisfaction of both parties. ", the announcement concludes.
