The role of Italy, as a strategically important foreign policy partner of Montenegro, is of particular importance in the process of accession to the European Union (EU), assessed the President of the Assembly Andrija Mandić.
As reported by the Assembly, Mandić spoke in Budapest with the president of the House of Representatives of Italy, Lorenzo Fontana.
"With the assessment that the two countries inherit friendly and substantive relations, Mandić expressed his determination to deepen cooperation and intensify political dialogue in the coming period," the announcement says.
Mandić thanked Fontana for Italy's continued support in the process of European integration.
"With the emphasis that the role of Italy, as a strategically important foreign policy partner of Montenegro, is of particular importance in the accession process," the statement added.
Fontana, as stated, emphasized his clear support for Montenegro, stressing that Italy can provide assistance in terms of accession to the EU by strengthening overall cooperation.
"He expressed his belief that during the upcoming mandate, he will improve parliamentary cooperation at all levels," the statement said.
