Boris Bogdanović, president of the Club of Deputies of Democratic Montenegro, announced today that the action that resulted in the arrest of former director of the Police Administration Slavko Stojanović and other suspects for abuse of office sends a clear and unequivocal message to all elements of the mafia and organized crime - "there is no longer a safe haven for you in Montenegro".
"The action, which resulted in the arrest of the former director of the Police Administration and other persons suspected of abuse of official position in connection with cigarette smuggling, is a strong indicator of the determination of the new government in the fight against corruption and organized crime in Montenegro," said Bogdanović in a statement that submitted by Democratic Montenegro.
He added that the Club of Deputies of Democrats expresses gratitude and praise for the work of the Special State Prosecutor's Office and the Special Police Department of the Police Administration.
"Your dedication and professionalism in carrying out your duties are key to the successful implementation of such operations. This action sends a clear and unequivocal message to all elements of the mafia and organized crime: there is no longer a safe haven for you in Montenegro. All institutions of the state of Montenegro are united in their intentions to stand in the way of any illegal activity. All those involved in corrupt and criminal activities and abuse of position will face the full force of the law. This is just one small step in the continuous effort of the relevant state authorities and the new government to build a strong, stable and prosperous Montenegro, freed from corruption and crime," said Bogdanović.
