Montenegro and the Czech Republic are friendly countries, and relations are based on close historical ties, partnership and alliance, Foreign Minister Filip Ivanović and Czech Republic Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavski agreed today, in a telephone conversation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. .
"They expressed the expectation that substantial bilateral cooperation, in the coming period, will be additionally strengthened in all fields of mutual interest," the announcement states.
As stated in the announcement, Ivanovic thanked his Czech colleague for the expert and political support for Montenegro's European path, as a key foreign policy priority.
He assessed the support of the "Friends of the Western Balkans" group, which includes the Czech Republic, as "extremely important".
"The efforts you are making in this direction, together with six other EU member states, are of particular importance for Montenegro and our region," Ivanovic said.
"Minister Lipavski welcomed the new Government's plan for implementing the necessary reforms in order to make a breakthrough in the negotiation process and conveyed his support for the ambitious European agenda, which aims to bring Montenegro closer to EU membership. He invited Minister Ivanovic to visit the official Prague, which would an additional boost was given to dynamic bilateral relations.
