The Bosniak Party (BS) welcomes the decision of the Bosniak Council in Montenegro and calls on citizens to participate in the upcoming population census, and to express their opinions freely on all issues on which data is collected, including the issue of national and religious identity, the party announced.
"We are very satisfied that the dialogue of interested parties led to better conditions for holding the census, and we remind you that the Bosniak Party actively participated in the process of creating conditions for holding a credible census in Montenegro, so that the results of the census would reflect the real situation in relation to all the data that are collected through the census, including the data that are of most interest to the public in Montenegro in connection with identity issues," reads the BS announcement.
In all these processes, they said from that party, they participated at the highest level - the president and vice president of the Bosniak Party.
"We have made a significant contribution to creating better conditions for a credible and comprehensive census in accordance with our and other opposition parties', NGO sector's, and representatives of the Council's less numerous peoples and national communities demands," the announcement states.
In this sense, as they said, the Bosniak Party (BS) participated in this process from the adoption and amendments of the Law on the Census, through the negotiations on the conditions for holding the census, to the signing of the Agreement on the conditions for holding the census in Montenegro.
"We especially invite Bosniaks in Montenegro to declare themselves on the census on all identity issues, reminding them that this is our constitutional right, but also that data on these issues are important for the realization of our rights guaranteed by the Constitution and laws. The Bosniak Party will monitor the implementation of the census and compliance with the agreed conditions, in order to obtain credible data through the census, and on this occasion we invite all citizens to inform us about possible problems and irregularities," the Bosniak Party's press release states.
