United Cow Husbandry (UK) will continue to support Montenegro, both in terms of reaching the highest European standards, and in terms of cooperation within NATO, said British Ambassador Don McCann in a conversation with the Minister of European Affairs, Maida Gorčević.
As announced by the Ministry of European Affairs (MEP), McCann emphasized that the UK remains committed to strengthening the cooperation between the two countries, as well as continuing active support to state institutions and the civil sector in Montenegro, especially in the area of the rule of law.
She said that the British Embassy will continue to cooperate with the European Union (EU) delegation in Podgorica, so that both parties can help Montenegro in their own way.
"The UK continues to support Montenegro, both in terms of reaching the highest European standards, and in terms of cooperation within NATO," said McCann.
Gorčević thanked McCann for supporting the UK in building capacity and implementing complex reforms in the negotiation process.
She said that positive developments in the judiciary, a stable and pro-European oriented Government and a functional Parliament give hope that Montenegro will soon show concrete results in action and speed up the EU accession process.
Gorčević, as it is added, pointed out the importance of the growth plan instrument for the Western Balkans, which will contribute to better and faster implementation of reforms and improvement of the situation in various areas.
"The high level of support of the citizens for the accession of Montenegro to the EU is a strong incentive to speed up this process and become a member of the EU as soon as possible," said Gorčević.
The MEP said that Gorčević and McKen exchanged opinions on the current situation in the country and the region and discussed the areas in which, as stated, UK assistance is valuable.
