Member of the Special Club of Deputies Jevrosima Pejović said that she was positively surprised by the proposals of the Minister of Justice Andrej Milović, which will contribute to improving the position of women in Montenegro, given her experience of cooperation with that former party colleague.
Pejović, who was on the list of the Europe Now Movement (PES) in the parliamentary elections on June 11, along with Milović, accused Milović on October 5 of threatening to turn her life into hell.
Milović then said that he did not threaten Pejović in any way, and that he was urging her to stop the manipulations.
"I was really pleased with the visible transformation in values, and as someone who has been engaged in personal growth and development for many years, I wanted to learn more about the paths of enlightenment so that we could create some kind of gender awareness program that would lead in just a few months from threats of assaulting a female colleague to fighting for women's rights," Pejović pointed out at today's Assembly session during the debate on the Bill on Amendments to the Criminal Code of Montenegro proposed by the Ministry of Justice headed by Andrej Milović.
She added that unfortunately her enthusiasm was short-lived, because she saw that all these were really great solutions, the proposals of the previous Minister of Justice Marko Kovač.
She said that Milović had nothing to do with this bill.
"Because as those women who have come out of the vicious circle of domestic violence know, abusers do not change. So someone who threatens at work meetings does not advocate that psychological and physical violence have the characteristics of a criminal offense, which this proposal entails. Thanks to the efforts of the previous minister Kovača, the new Criminal Code will contribute to the state showing a more serious approach in sanctioning domestic violence, which is particularly visible in the provision that sanctions returnees for committing criminal acts," said Pejović.
Milović said that Pejović was recognized for her ignorance and that she presented incorrect information and that it was not the first time.
"If she had known, if she had read a little more, if she had educated herself, she would have known that this was not Kovač's solution, but that this Code began to be changed by Minister Pažin and the 41st Government. Well, after his changes and additions, Minister Leposavić made it, 42 The Government. After that, it was the 43rd Government and finally it was proposed by the 44th Government. At least once in your speech, state the correct information. Regarding the fact that you are making a sacrifice out of me, out of yourself, and that I did something to you, it is one attempt that you tried to push back to the public, looking for partners among the 60 people on the Main Committee and something that no one confirmed except you and maybe a colleague who had the same political fate as you. You and your principal failed to achieve the intention to prevent me from becoming what I have become, that you tried hard from the bottom of your heart," said Milović
He said that Pejović is constantly prompted by URA MP Dritan Abazović.
"I'm glad for that, because he shows the best intentions as your prompter, what kind of connection he has with you and who stands out from you and whose play was it for me to present myself as a bully and as someone who threatens women, which I've never done in my life . But go ahead and prompt her, You are from the same kitchen, you have the same address, you have the same owner, employer. You can't present me as a bully, I know you would like that, but unfortunately that's how it is," he said. Milović.
After that, Pejović said that the legal solution, whoever it was, was not Milović's.
"As for who is telling the truth and who is not, the entire Montenegrin public had the opportunity to judge, I will only say that the saddest thing is that it happened in front of 60 people at the Main Board, that it was later confirmed in front of almost the entire parliamentary club, in front of your through the eyes of my dear colleagues. Some of you have given your word that you will testify in court. I am not hurt, offended or scared, and this kind of violent behavior by the minister is not new, because as the current minister of foreign affairs said at one of the meetings we attended together, 'yes you know what he tells us so we don't get angry', but the problem is that Mr. Milović said it in front of 60 people. The problem is that no one reacted at that moment. The problem is that this is no longer an incident but a matter of culture. The problem The problem is that these situations lead to such cases, that we have to change laws, define certain legal solutions, and the problem is that we have this situation in society due to inactivity. "I think that in the previous period, the Montenegrin public could be convinced that, as far as the parliamentary club where I once belonged, silence is the most widespread form of public opinion, and worship is the most widespread form of public action," said Pejović.
In his closing speech, Milović said that this Proposal for Amendments to the Criminal Code introduces 17 new criminal offenses and that it makes some of the offenses that were already prescribed more severe.
"I am especially happy about criminal acts related to sexual harassment and misuse of other people's recordings, photos, as well as the protection of the female part of the population.
"We are constantly witnessing political accusations against me, false accusations that are impossible to prove. As the father of a female child, I am especially happy that with these changes, the female part of the population will be additionally protected," Milović said.
After that, Pejović said that the citizens could see the last act as it looks like when the bully defends himself.
"Milović just put his six- or seven-year-old daughter in front of him as a shield. Precisely because we would not allow this kind of behavior, it is very important not only to vote for these changes in the law, but also for these changes to be applied in practice. We are also here because of his daughter and for the sake of those girls to whom I will return when I come home. I call on all my colleagues to think from a gender perspective when adopting any future legislation and to see how it contributes to a better life, among other things, for our daughters," said Pejović .
