The United States of America (USA) and the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North will continue to cooperate in the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union (EU), said the US ambassador in Podgorica, Judi Rajzing Rajnke, and the responsible minister, Vladimir Martinović.
"At the very beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Rajnka said that the USA expects that the 44th Government will work on the implementation of obligations for joining the EU as soon as possible. Martinović said that he is confident in the pro-Western course of the Government, whose friend and strategic partner is the USA, and he introduced the Ambassador to the plans of the Ministry for the next period," the announcement reads.
Martinović said, according to the announcement, that the inevitable issue is Chapter 27 and the annual report of the European Commission (EC), which has not been at a satisfactory level for the last six years.
"The ministry, of which I am the head, is analyzing the complete situation in the areas it covers. It is not an easy job ahead of us, especially when we take into account the previous reports and analyses, but I can guarantee that commitment and work will not be lacking," he added. Martinovic.
As stated in the announcement, Rajnke said that good cooperation with the Ministry can be established, both in the field of tourism and ecology and environmental protection, and in this context she emphasized the importance of the development of the north of Montenegro.
"The interlocutors agree that it is necessary to establish a balance between the development of the north and the south, in order to enable American and all other tourists to fully experience Montenegro, its natural beauty and the cultural possibilities of the north, which is possible thanks to the geographical size of Montenegro. They are also significant and highlighted the important considerations of establishing an airline between Montenegro and the USA, enabling the exchange of experiences between tourist tour operators, greater promotion of the tourist offer and the like," the announcement states.
According to the announcement, Martinović also stated the necessity of diversifying our tourism offer, better visibility and competitiveness on the international tourist market, and the need for stronger promotion of Montenegro in the USA.
"At the meeting, there was talk of breaking down business barriers, attracting American investors to invest in Montenegro and strengthening the economic cooperation of the two countries by entering into partnerships. During the further conversation, Rajnke recalled the excellent bilateral cooperation, which was completed by the signing of the Memorandum with the American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro "Martinović referred to the Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, where he had important bilateral meetings with ministers from EU countries," the announcement states.
Ambassador Rajnka expressed her support for the minister's attendance at COP28 and emphasized the importance of using this platform to help Montenegro fulfill its obligations in accordance with the Paris Agreement and achieve progress in terms of harmonization with the EU acquis.
