The President of the Tivat Municipality Assembly, Miljan Marković (Nova), met today in his office with the priest of the Kotor Diocese, Don Željko Pasković, and the Patriarch of the Montenegrin Littoral, Pavlo Pajić, regarding the project of opening a national kitchen in Tivat, i.e. the future cooperation of the local administration and these religious communities on other issues.
The meeting was also attended by the vice-president of Tivat Municipality in charge of social activities, Andrija Petković (Bokeški Forum).
It was previously announced that the humanitarian organization Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor, in cooperation with the Municipality of Tivat and with the financial support of a donor - a Montenegrin family from Berlin, will soon open a National Kitchen in Tivat, and today it was announced that the project will also be supported by the Metropolis of Montenegro with occasional food donations. coastal.
"On the occasion of the past and upcoming Christmas holidays and holidays, I and Father Pavle gathered at the invitation of the President of the Municipality of Tivat, here in the Municipality of Tivat, so that we could talk about the upcoming and previous cooperation. In a special way, we emphasized the importance of opening a National Kitchen under the auspices of Caritas, which in its own way will be supported by the Serbian Orthodox Church in its own way, so that they can deliver food or help to everyone who is in need," said Don Željko Pasković, who is also and director of Caritas of the Diocese of Kotor.
The parish priest of Tivat, Father Pavle Pajić, thanked the president of the Tivat parliament for the invitation and said that he and Don Pasković "agreed on future cooperation to help our fellow citizens" at the meeting with Marković.
"In addition, we looked at the situation in our city where we live and concluded that there is no need to raise unnecessary tensions because some small things, which some people do out of ignorance, do not need to rise to a high level. Tivat and the whole of Boka do not only have coexistence, but love that has been shown for centuries, if nothing else at least through common and mixed marriages, but also in all other fields of cooperation between people of different faiths and different nations. That is why we are sending a message of peace and love with the wish that all the holidays will be spent beautifully and happily," Pajić said.
However, the municipal committee (OO) of the Liberal Party (LP) was not satisfied with this meeting, so after the information about the meeting of priests of the Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches with part of the municipal leadership was published, the LP called out the municipal officials for discriminating against other religious communities.
"Messages of peace and love were exchanged, which must be supported and most sincerely welcomed, and we must work to spread such messages every day, regardless of whether the holidays are in progress or not, and regardless of religious affiliation. However, a big question mark remains, which worries, after this meeting. Is the Municipality of Tivat only interested in cooperation with the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church, because representatives of the Montenegrin Orthodox Church and the Islamic Community were not invited to this meeting? Does the municipality select according to some criteria which religious organization it will establish cooperation with and share messages of peace and love, and in that selection some religious organizations are not desirable", announced the OO LP Tivat, noting that according to the Constitution and the law, all religious communities in Montenegro They are equal and their indirect or direct discrimination is not allowed.
