Dodik: We don't want other people's, we don't give our own
The ceremonial academy called "Symbol of Freedom", on the occasion of celebrating the RS Day, was held in the Sports Hall "Borik" in Banja Luka.
The President of the RS, Milorad Dodik, said that the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity wants peace and stability, that it does not give its own and that of others, and that it does not endanger anyone.
"We celebrate January 9, the ninth day of the year that fell to us to mark as the founding day of the Republika Srpska. We do it with great love and desire not to hurt anyone, but to still be happy, because it belongs to us, our soul, our character and freedom. Freedom for the Serbs in this region was never a philosophical word, but an existential one, which is why it produced many of our actions," said Dodik, as reported by RTS.
He said that the Serbian people have always fought for freedom, making great sacrifices and added that the RS was created before the war conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"We formed the Republic of Srpska out of concern for the fate of the Serbian people, who were threatened with separation from the mother country of Serbia, and to be something that we were a long time ago - Serbs across the Drina, those for whom various invaders created a buffer zone along the Drina in order to separate them from the mother country. We did not want to worry war and we did not give a reason for war", said Dodik and added that at that moment "the leaders of the Serbian people sacrificed their own comfort, and some of them are deceased today", and some are in, as he said, "white world casemates".
Dodik reiterated his position that there was no genocide in Srebrenica.
