The Constitutional Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro today made a unanimous decision on announcing a public call for the election of a judge of the Constitutional Court.
The advertisement will be advertised on Monday, January 22.
The President of the Committee, Simonida Kordić, reminded that the Committee is carrying out the procedures for the selection of judges of the Constitutional Court and that the Constitutional Court informed the Assembly that the judge of that court, Milorad Gogić, is eligible for retirement on May 27.
"The procedure is carried out by the Board making a decision on announcing a public call, the competition lasts 30 days, then the Board organizes a committee that checks the received bids, then the candidates are examined...", Kordić reminded of the procedure carried out by that parliamentary body.

In November, the Parliament of Montenegro elected Faruk Rasulbegović as the seventh judge of the Constitutional Court as soon as the process of electing judges of the Constitutional Court, which began in 2020, was completed, and that institution was completed after more than three years. The peak of the constitutional crisis occurred in the second half of last year, when the Constitutional Court had only three out of seven judges, which is why it was blocked.
A person from among prominent lawyers with at least 40 years of age and 15 years of work experience in the legal profession is elected as a judge of the Constitutional Court.
The candidate must be a Montenegrin citizen, have the prescribed level of educational qualifications, have passed the professional exam for work in state bodies or the bar exam...
The election in the first round requires the support of two-thirds of the parliament (votes of at least 54 deputies), and in the second round three-fifths (votes of at least 49 deputies).
The Constitutional Court has seven judges, who are elected by the Assembly for 12 years. Apart from Gogić and Resulbegović, the current judges are Snežana Armenko, Momirka Tešić, Dragana Đuranović, Desanka Lopičić and Budimir Šćepanović.
