A government delegation of five members will participate in the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, which will be held from January 31 to February 2.
The delegation of the executive power, the largest so far at the event, consists of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Nik Đeljošaj, Deputy Prime Minister Srđan Pavićević and Ministers Filip Ivanović (Foreign Affairs), Fatmir Đeka (Human and Minority Rights) and Janko Odović (Spatial Planning).
In the Platform for the participation of the Government delegation at the Prayer Breakfast, which was adopted yesterday, it was stated that during this event Montenegrin officials will have the opportunity not only to establish new contacts, but also to open new avenues of cooperation and discuss the dynamics of the development of relations.
"Also, this will be an opportunity to confirm the friendly relations between Montenegro and the USA, which are additionally permeated through the alliance within NATO", it was stated. The expenses of the delegation's travel and stay will be borne by the Government.
The prayer breakfast is a traditional event that gathers political, social and business leaders from the USA and more than 140 countries and is held every year in early February in Washington.
It was initially established with the aim of praying for peace and common pleas for the prosperity of the USA, but over time it grew into an event of a wider scale, which includes distinguished officials from political and public life, the Platform reminds.
"A special place among the participants is occupied by the president of AD, then congressmen and senators, as well as other distinguished officials, together with a large number of renowned guests from several countries of the world".
Acting Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj was also invited to the Prayer Breakfast. the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists Danijel Živković and the head of the caucus of that party Andrija Nikolić, the president of the Social Democrats Damir Šehović, the professor of the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature and the vice-president of the Montenegrin PEN Center Boban Batrićević, as well as the presidents of the municipalities of Gusinje and Ulcinj Sanel Balić and Omer Bajraktari.
Last year, former President Milo Đukanović and his wife Lidija, former Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović, MPs of the Democratic Party of Socialists Andrija Nikolić and Branimir Gvozdenović, MP of the Social Democrats Damir Šehović, as well as Đeljošaj were invited to attend the Prayer Breakfast in Washington.
