Minister of Interior Affairs Danilo Šaranović (Democrats) requested at yesterday's Government session that his proposal on the dismissal of the police chief be urgently considered Zoran Brđanin, saying that by not solving that issue the Brđan is being protected, "Vijesti" learned unofficially.
The proposal was submitted a month ago - on December 26 last year, but the Prime Minister Milojko Spajic (Movement Europe now) does not yet include it in the agenda of the Government session.
The "Vijesti" source says that Šaranović reminded his colleagues from the executive branch that his request has been sitting in a drawer for a month.
"He asked for the proposal to be considered urgently and reiterated his readiness to, although not obliged, to propose more candidates for acting (acting) director of the UP (Police Administration)," said the interlocutor.
The General Secretariat of the Government (GSV) recently informed "Vijesta" that the executive power did not receive Šaranović's proposal, but that the minister submitted it to its Commission for Personnel and Administrative Affairs on December 26, which, as they explained, considers personnel issues before running for the session Governments. GSV claims that the commission considered the proposal two days later and postponed the decision on it until Saranović submits the proposal for appointing the acting chief of police.
The President of the Commission says the same Srđan Pavićević (CIVIS), while Šaranović claims that that government body did not consider his proposal.
The interlocutor of "Vijesti" says that Šaranović told his colleagues at the session yesterday that the Government replaced some directors of the administrations on the proposal of the ministers, and that their successors were not elected at the same time, and that a number of administrations are coordinated by ministers because they have no candidates for directors.
"Šaranović pointed out that only in the case of the Minister of Internal Affairs, the procedure is different, and thus the current director of the UP is protected, whose report was voted against by 80 percent of the parliament," said the source.

Relations between the PES and the Democrats "strained" due to staffing in the security sector, and after the Government session in early December at which the Minister of Justice Andrej Milović (PES) requested immediate shifts in that part of the system.
Brđanin was returned to the chair of the first police officer by a court decision of December 7, but ten days later the Committee for Security and Defense gave a negative opinion on two of his earlier reports, which created the conditions for his dismissal. He was elected police director in August 2021, during the mandate of the Government Zdravka Krivokapića, which means that his five-year term expires in August 2026.
It was the first time by the Government Dritan Abazović resolved at the end of March last year, and the Administrative Court annulled that decision at the beginning of July as illegal. The government reiterated its decision in early August, and the court overturned it on December 7.
Former Minister of the Interior Filip Adzic in the explanation of the proposal for dismissal, as the reasons for this, he cited the operation of the Special State Prosecutor's Office during which the former assistant director of UP was arrested Dejan Knezevic and several police officers, due to the suspicion that they committed criminal acts in the field of organized crime and corruption.
According to the Law on Internal Affairs, in the event that the police director's mandate ends before the time for which he was appointed, the Government, on the proposal of the minister, appoints one of the managers of the internal organizational unit of the UP who meets the requirements for the director, for a maximum of six months. There are 20 organizational units in UP.
The Director of UP is appointed by the Government, based on a public competition, on the proposal of the Minister.
Šaranović: The parties will not staff the security sector
Šaranović told journalists in Podgorica yesterday that he is not the addressee who knows the answer to the question of when the Government will decide on Brđanin.
He repeats that he is ready to propose more candidates for acting director.
"Political parties will not, starting with Democratic Montenegro, recruit in the security sector, and in that sector we will not have political appointments, but appointments exclusively based on the principles of meritocracy and professional courage," he said, TV "Vijesti" reported.
