Leković: The initiative of port and transport workers to increase the benefits of seniority is rational

The Parliamentary Club of Democratic Montenegro will provide full support to the port and transport workers, in order to find the most acceptable way to solve their problems, that is, the constructive initiatives they submitted, the party announced.

The press release states that Democrat MP Momčilo Leković received the President of the Port and Transport Workers Union Vladimir Obradović and Vice President Nedžad Pinčić today in the Parliament of Montenegro.

"As a member of parliament, with strong conviction I express my full support for the efforts of AD Luka Bar workers in realizing the rights that follow them and that, given the nature of the work they deal with, they absolutely deserve. As we can see, port and transport workers face difficult and risky jobs , handle dangerous materials, and are consequently exposed to serious health risks. Their initiative to increase the benefits of seniority, which will enable earlier retirement after 25 years of work, is rational and deserves serious consideration," Leković pointed out.

He added that in this way they implement the protection of workers' rights, especially in the sector where physical demands and risks are particularly pronounced.

"As a Baranina and someone whose closest relatives spent their entire working life in this company, I am particularly pleased with the attitude that the executive director of Luka Bar, Ilija Pješčić, has towards the workers and who, according to the representatives of the trade union, procured the most expensive protective equipment and masks, who takes care of them as much as it can, which was not the case with the previous management. According to the information I received, the Port of Bar is also working on the Risk Assessment Act, which has not been done for a long time in the Port of Bar, which will prescribe better protection of workers and modernize some procedures," said Leković.
