Minister of Justice and member of the Presidency of the Europe Now Movement (PES), Andrej Milović, said today that his congratulation to the newly elected president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijelo Živković, was a gentleman's gesture.
Milović told reporters in the Parliament, after the Constitutional Committee, that there was "such a fuss" over the congratulatory message that he, as he claims, wondered what would have happened if he had "brought the bottle with him". He points out that he and Živković are not enemies and that he thinks that Montenegro should "build together".
"I think that the political scene should calm down and that the rhetoric we heard today at the Constitutional Committee should not happen. But, quite simply, some elements in politics, especially in the opposition, are used to making noise in Montenegrin life because they think that will get a little more votes and that by publicly accusing people that they are protectors of the mafia or that they made a decision under the influence of corruption... I am of the opinion that they should provide evidence for all things and behave responsibly," Milović pointed out.
He said that congratulating Živković was a responsible move for "a fellow politician".
"If someone is going to blame me - let them blame me. That is proof of awareness and that we are still a pre-political society that is not even mature enough to accept the congratulations we send to each other," concluded Milović.
