In recent years, Montenegro has been in constant political turbulence and increasingly frequent geopolitical disturbances threaten its European future, it was assessed at the meeting of the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Danijel Živković and the head of the caucus of that party Andrija Nikolić with American congressmen in Washington.
As reported by the DPS, in conversations with congressmen Ben Klein, Saluda Carbahol, Jake Elzi, Pete Sessions, John Molinaro and Robert Aderholt, Živković and Nikolić said that today Serbia, as Russia's most loyal ally in Europe, interferes in internal affairs. political issues in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.
They, as stated, emphasized that this has not yet met with a more specific response from the Western international partners.
The DPS said that Živković and Nikolić, in a conversation with American congressmen, assessed that geopolitical developments create dangers in Montenegro as well.
It is reported that Živković and Nikolić invited their American colleagues to closely monitor the situation in Montenegro.
"And that Montenegro and the Balkans should not be allowed to be collateral damage of unsuccessful attempts to tear Serbia away from Russia's embrace," the statement says.
It is added that DPS representatives, on the sidelines of the Prayer Breakfast, in addition to meetings with congressmen, also spoke with representatives of several influential think tank organizations.
