Montenegro is on the right track to become the first next member of the European Union, it was assessed at the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Filip Ivanovic, with the Ambassador of Cyprus, Andreas Fotiou.
Ivanovic spoke today, in separate meetings, with the newly appointed non-resident ambassadors of Cyprus and New Zealand - Andreas Fotiu and Jacqueline Ann Frizell.
The Ministry announced that during the meeting with Fotiu, mutual satisfaction was expressed with the quality of the friendly relations that Montenegro and Cyprus continuously achieve.
"The foreign policy priorities of the Government of Montenegro were discussed, with a special emphasis on achieving full membership in the EU, and it was assessed that Montenegro is on the right track to become the first next member of the Union," the announcement states.
Also, both sides expressed openness and willingness to further improve and dynamize bilateral cooperation in the upcoming period.
In the conversation with Ambassador Jacqueline Ann Frizell, it was assessed that Montenegro and New Zealand, as two geographically distant countries, share the common values of multilateralism, global peace and security, which represent the basis for further strengthening of cooperation in areas of mutual importance.
Along these lines, Ivanovic expressed his belief that the very good relations between the two countries will be further strengthened during the mandate of the newly appointed ambassador, it is concluded.
