The Democratic People's Party (DNP) proposed to shorten the mandate of the Budva Municipal Assembly (SO) and call for new elections.
Milan Knežević's party said that after the arrest of Milo Božović, Budva "became the scene of factional conflict" in the New Serbian Democracy (NSD).
They also claim that the DNP is neither guilty nor liable collateral in the conflict between factions of the party whose leader is Andrija Mandić.
This is stated in the press release of DNP spokeswoman Jovana Todorović, who spoke on the occasion of the announcement of the NSD, in which they stated that the president of the SO Budva Nikola Jovanović "crossed the red line" and that he "organized a shameful majority" with the DPS.
"The Democratic People's Party is unpleasantly surprised by the announcement of our colleagues and friends from the Budva NSDA, in which they are trying to address their long-standing disagreements and internal discord in their ranks to Milan Knežević through criticism directed at the former member of the DNP presidency, Nikola Jovanović. It is likely that they would not have reacted either. in this case, as well as in a number of previous cases, in which the NSD factions in Budva have been settling accounts with each other for years over the fairness and the back of the DNP, we would have tried to solve the problem in an open and human conversation. But in the last unsigned statement of our friend from the NSD clearly alludes that the DNP has some form of cooperation with the DPS in Budva, which we strongly deny and call on them to provide the public with at least one piece of evidence," Todorović said in the statement.
He adds that he wants to remind the officials from the Budva NSD that among the six councilors who stayed at the Assembly session, the most councilors are from the NSD.
"And it would be politically correct and concrete if the colleagues from the NSD first called and invited their councilors with an appeal and that someone 'reason' with them, as they appeal to Milan Knežević to repair the damage that others have been doing in Budva for almost a year. Also , we would like to remind our colleagues from the Budva NSD that they themselves, without any consultation with the headquarters of the then DF, drew up the committee list, with the composition and arrangement of which Milan Knežević was the only one who did not agree, which he directly communicated to Milo Božović and Nikola Jovanović. We are also obliged to remind our colleagues from Budva NSD that Milo Božović proposed Nikola Jovanović as the head of the cabinet of Marko Bata Carević at the time. "Milan Knežević was not even informed, let alone consulted. And we especially emphasize the fact that it was Nikola Jovanović from the position of head of the cabinet who led the sessions of the Executive and local committees of the NSD, with the explanation of our colleagues from Nova that he is no longer a member of the DNP," she said. Todorovic.
He states that the DNP did not want to disturb the relations with the coalition partners, and therefore kept many facts quiet "because of the friendly relations we have".
"But on this occasion, we would like to point out that the DNP councilors in Budva have been loyal and correct partners all along, and that they did not threaten the government in Budva with any of their moves, but on the contrary, even in moments when many renounced and distanced themselves from the Budva NSD- from Milo Božović, he had our support. Unfortunately, after the arrest of Milo Božović, Budva became the scene of conflict between factions in the NSD, and the DNP was neither guilty nor owed collateral. Therefore, to the colleagues from the part of the Budva NSD who wrote this statement, but also to colleagues from the NSD who do not agree with this announcement, we suggest in a friendly way to end this agony, and to shorten the mandate of the Assembly, since the citizens of Budva must not be held hostage by their disturbed relations. This is the fairest way out of this crisis, because no armchair, starting with that of Milan Knežević, Nikola Jovanović, but also all others, cannot be in front of the interests of the citizens of Budva, that is why we are ready as soon as tomorrow to sign the initiative to shorten the mandate of the Assembly of Budva and to go before the citizens' court", concluded Todorović.
