The interest of the citizens of Budva has always been in the first place for the New Serbian Democracy, and that is why we believe that the solution to the situation in that city should be approached soberly and calmly, the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) announced today.
"This is exactly what the President of the Parliament of Montenegro and NSD Andrija Mandić did in the past period. President Mandić made an extraordinary effort and personal commitment to resolve the situation in Budva. The result of his efforts led to an agreement that represented a concrete solution to the situation in which local government in Budva has found itself. Since the partial policies of certain groups have been conducted in such a way as not to respect that agreement and to call into question the cooperation within the parliamentary majority, it is the last opportunity to show whether responsibility and the desire to work together can overcome personal the wishes and ambitions of those who believe that it belongs to them to decide on everything themselves," the NSD press release on the occasion of how they stated the situation in Budva emphasizes.
From that party, they added that they have proven that reconciliation, compromise and overcoming the issues that divide them is possible at the state level and that they sincerely want all political participants in the situation in Budva, who won power as a coalition of different parties, to primarily think of the general interest of the citizens who finally gave them their trust.
"We believe that an agreement between the political actors in Budva is still possible, and the best and most correct solution is for everyone to respect the agreement that the councilors reached at the meeting with NSD president Andrijo Mandić. If, through further confrontations, the decision makers in Budva decide that they cannot work together, then the only fair and correct solution is for the councilors to return the mandates to those who elected them and to start organizing new extraordinary local elections. At the very end, we once again invite all actors, especially those who are in the highest positions in Budva, because they precisely those most responsible for preserving unity, to show political breadth and put aside the differences from which nothing good can come, reminding them that they came before the voters with the slogan - Budva in the first place", reads the press release of the NSD.
On November 5, Mandić said that the political crisis in Budva has been resolved, as a vice-president of the Municipality will soon be elected, who will perform his duties with the help of another vice-president.
Mandić then held a meeting with the committee club of the former Democratic Front (DF).
On February 16, members of the former DF, of which NSD was also a part, left the hall of the Budva Municipal Assembly (SO) and thus prevented the local parliament's statement on the proposal of the detained President of the Municipality of Budva, Milo Božović, to appoint Jasna Dokić as his deputy.
Only Nikola Jovanović, the president of the SO, as a representative of Božović's coalition, remained in the assembly hall at that time, who led the rest of the session, so that the opposition representatives could present their views on the actions of the ruling councilors.
On February 17, the NSD Budva municipal council announced that Jovanović had crossed the red line, and that he had organized a "shameful majority" with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
Jovanović called it nebulous claims from the "temporary board of NSD Budva".
The Democratic People's Party (DNP) proposed on February 17 to shorten the mandate of the Budva Municipal Council and call for new elections.
The party headed by Milan Knežević said at the time that Budva "became the scene of factional conflict" in the NSD after the arrest of Milo Božović.
They also claim that the DNP is neither guilty nor liable collateral in the conflict between factions of the party whose leader is Andrija Mandić.
