Limiting the trading margin in wholesale and retail to five to 15 percent for some basic foodstuffs, food products and hygiene products will improve the standard of living of citizens, said MP Milan Zečević.
He reminded that Montenegro is still largely dependent on imports, which makes it susceptible to the effects of global inflation, which was caused by the war conflicts in Ukraine.
According to Zečević, if the Government cannot influence global inflation, the restriction of trade margins is a responsible measure in terms of limiting the uncontrolled increase in the price of basic foodstuffs.
"The announcements from the Government that by the end of the week they will make a decision limiting trade margins in wholesale and retail to five to fifteen percent for a part of basic foodstuffs, food products and means for maintaining hygiene, is another concrete move that will unpair life's standard of the citizens of Montenegro", stated in Zečević's press release.
He assessed that the simultaneous increase of minimum pensions, the Europe Now 2 program and the limitation of trade margins create the conditions for all future increases in minimum and average wages to greatly improve the living standards of citizens.
