President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic and the Prime Minister Milojko Spajic they have no official information about the visit to Montenegro of the president of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, nor were they officially asked to meet him.
This was confirmed to "Vijesti" from the President's Public Relations Office and unofficially from the Prime Minister's Office.
"We have no official information about Mr. Dodik's visit, nor has a meeting with the President of Montenegro been officially requested," the President's Public Relations Office replied to "News".
The prime minister's office unofficially informed "Vijesta" that they learned about Dodik's visit from the media, and that no meetings were planned.
The President of the Assembly and the leader of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) will meet with Dodik today. Andrija Mandic. This was officially announced to the media from Dodik's cabinet yesterday, stating that today he will be on a working visit to Montenegro and that he will meet with Mandić at 12:30 in the Parliament.
Yesterday, the Parliament of Montenegro did not answer the questions of "Vijesti" whether Mandić invited Dodik to visit Montenegro, whether he would be welcomed with state honours, or what the topics of the conversation would be.
On Sunday evening, Dodik announced on a social network that he will arrive in Montenegro today or tomorrow.
"The Republika Srpska is proving to be an important interlocutor both in the region and in more and more important countries on a global level. This is also shown by the successful talks I had with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in Kazan and the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk. In the coming days, we will continue with this practice and I will travel to Montenegro, and at the end of the week I will be in Antalya, at the invitation of a friend from Turkey", wrote Dodik on his Instagram profile.
Dodik did not announce which Montenegrin officials he will meet with.
He was the first official from the region to congratulate Milatović on his victory in the April 2023 presidential elections. Relations were damaged after Milatović, in January of this year, refused Dodik's invitation to attend the celebration of the unconstitutional Day of the RS, saying that Podgorica respects Bosnia and Herzegovina as an integral state. Dodik reacted harshly, telling Milatović that he could be banned from coming on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Dodik's son Igor, who is the new organizational secretary of the ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), announced a few days ago that he had a very fair relationship with Spajić and that he helped him build the party infrastructure in Montenegro:
"And who came to Banjaluka to support RS Day and who admired how we fight with everything, after Escobar gets amnesia and declares that the Day of Srpska is unconstitutional," wrote Dodik on the social network Ix.
Contrary to his relations with Milatović and Spajić, Dodik has good cooperation with the former Democratic Front officials.
Last year, he awarded Mandić with the Order of Honor with Golden Rays "for his recognized public work and achievements, as well as for his merits in developing and strengthening cooperation and political relations between Montenegro and RS".
