The strength of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) is crucial for the identity and survival of the Serbian people in Republika Srpska, Montenegro and Serbia, announced the president of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.

On his website, it was announced that today Dodik, together with the President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandić, visited the Cathedral of Christ's Resurrection in Podgorica and the crypt where the grave of Metropolitan Amfilohi of the Montenegrin littoral is located.

"The history of the Serbian people in these areas is the history of the Serbian Orthodox Church. I am glad to see that there are people, children, that the temple is alive, which I think is the most important thing. I think it is crucial for the identity of the Serbian people and its survival in all these areas, not only in Montenegro, but also in the Republika Srpska, and also in Serbia, the strength of our SPC, which preserves identity through the ages. Especially in impossible circumstances, our essence and identity, faith, baptismal glory have been preserved, and this is what every Serb, especially a believer, must to keep in mind," pointed out Dodik.

According to him, this is not only important for the religious part of life, but for the entire history of the Serbian people.

"Even before, when the temple was being built, I had the opportunity to participate in aid as the President of the Republic, and that's why I didn't miss the opportunity to greet our people at that place today," said Dodik.

Today, Dodik met with Mandić in the Assembly, after which they held a joint press conference.

He also said at that conference that he submitted a proposal for an agreement on special ties to Mandić.

A group of citizens gathered today at the building of the Parliament of Montenegro, as a sign of protest against Dodik's arrival, and he greeted them with three fingers raised.

President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić have no official information about Dodik's visit, nor have they been officially asked to meet with him.

This was previously confirmed to "Vijesti" from the President's Public Relations Office and unofficially from the Prime Minister's Office.
