This gathering is an excellent opportunity to once again send a strong message of peace and support the Ukrainian people to persevere in the fight for freedom, announced the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
He said this in Tirana, where at the invitation of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, he participated in the Ukraine - Southeast Europe Summit, the Office for Public Relations of the President of Montenegro announced.
As stated in the announcement, during the Summit, Milatović met, among others, with the President of Moldova Maja Sandu and Zelenski.
"During the conversation with Sandu, friendly relations between Montenegro and Moldova were noted and interest was expressed in further improving cooperation in the fields of economy, education and tourism. During the conversation between President Milatović and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy, excellent interstate relations were noted and Montenegro's strong support was confirmed Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression against that country," the announcement states.
"The importance of the EU's decision to open accession negotiations with Ukraine was highlighted, which represents an important step towards ensuring the prosperity, peace and stability of Europe," it concludes.
