A long-time official of the Bosniak Party (BS), Sead Šahman, announced that the president of that party, Ervin Ibrahimović, has privatized the party, and that he is removing dissenters from the meetings of the party's bodies and denying the possibility of freedom of speech.
"Obviously, the legal acts that we all harmonized and established together are valid only when it suits individuals, and according to the principle of a "buffet table" and taking only and exclusively what suits at the given moment. After several of my reports and interventions with the intention of making the session legal and legitimately, the president of the party, Ervin Ibrahimović, invited me to leave the hall because 'my mandate has ended due to the termination of the function of the president of the Youth Forum,'" said Šahman.
He said that he reacted to that by referring to the Statute and previous practice, suggesting to Ibrahimović that he should do it in a way that he would put it to a vote, just as, as he says, as allowed by Article 6 of the BS Statute, accepting that if the majority of the members of the Main the committee votes for it, he will have nothing against Ibrahimović's proposal.
"Again, of course, Ibrahimović refused to do that and did not put it to the vote. I hereby deny the writings of certain portals through insider sources from the session that any majority made such a decision on the termination of my mandate as a member of the BS Main Board, which means that it's about the arbitrariness of the individual," Šahman pointed out.
He said that the important fact, which, as he states, is known to all the members of the Main Board, and which was taken later as one of the arguments in the discussion, "is that on that basis and the same article of the statute, many others remained in the Main Board members whose mandates in the positions of many party entities expired in the meantime, and between the two Congresses of the party, such as this one, as well as previous presidents of municipalities, assemblies of municipalities..."
"He did not mention the names of those people, saying that he did so publicly from the lectern during the GO session, and that he did not want to nominate people this way, explaining only unprincipled occurrences and phenomena. Šahman thanked all those who had a response to this performance of Ibrahimović, reacting very briskly, not wanting to present details and descriptive descriptions with which they characterized Ibrahimović's behavior, but also to those who called and sent messages of support after the session - and there were a lot of them," the announcement reads.
"In order to prevent further discussion, Ibrahimović interrupted the session of the Main Board until I allegedly left the hall, which I indignantly refused to do. After a break of almost half an hour and my consistency and composure, the session continued, and I attended it until the very end." Shahman said.
He characterized the actions of Ibrahimović as discriminatory through the approach of double standards because, as he points out, such a precedent has never happened in the history of the 18-year-old party.
"Probably, the foundation for such a thing should be sought in my political engagement lasting more than a decade in various party positions: from youth president for two mandates, party spokesman, member of the Main Board in several convocations, member of the Executive Committee at the party level in several convocations, member of the municipal committee and executive committee at the level of the Capital City of Podgorica, the secretary for international cooperation of the party and the 'main culprit' for BS's membership in the European People's Party (EPP) (not according to his own words, but those who witnessed those processes, for which I have relevant evidence), the first BS delegate in the EPP Political Assembly in Brussels," Šahman said.
He said that these days it has been three years since Rafet Husović, "the leader of the Bosniak people in every sense of the word, stepped down from the position of president of BS".
"I had the personal pleasure of reading his manifesto written in February 2021 at the later BS Congress in June 2021, from when, unfortunately, the capture and identification of the party with the private entity EI begins, which I have pointed out many times within the party bodies. The message is that democracy and the possibility of speech are not guaranteed, it must be conquered. Successive and gradual. What I can promise is the continuation of an even stronger struggle, no matter how difficult it is to work in such 'democratic' circumstances," Šahman concluded.
