The serious mutual accusations that we heard at the Parliamentary Committee for Security and Defense and the accusations during and after the Government session where the Acting Director of Police was elected, opened numerous questions to which we must get an adequate answer, said the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović.
He states that major accusations that threaten citizens' trust in some of the most important institutions in the country must not remain unexplained.
"Otherwise, we will legalize dilettantism and frivolity as the dominant characteristics of political activity. As the president of the state, but also as a citizen, I expect quick and clear answers from the competent authorities to all legal and other issues that have been opened in the past period and concern the happenings in the security sector." , Milatović wrote on Xu.
He also said that he does not believe that any citizen wants to live in a state whose high-ranking officials accuse each other of the most serious crimes and that this is accepted as part of daily politics.
"I don't want to judge and pass judgment on the rather chaotic and non-transparent actions of certain institutions, but I want to appeal for respect for the Constitution and the law. I remind you that the democratic maturation of our society in the previous period was repeatedly called into question by wrong assessments and actions of some of the most important political actors. That's why additional responsibility and seriousness is needed on the political stage, but also awareness of a moment that is important in many ways for the further democratic development and EU integration of Montenegro," he concluded.
