Ibrahimović: I believe that the results of the census will confirm the degree of national consciousness of the Bosniak people

The leader of the Bosniak Trank (BS) Ervin Ibrahimović said that he believes that the results of the population census will confirm the degree of national consciousness of the Bosniak people in Montenegro.

BS said that Ibrahimović congratulated March 22, the Day of Bosniaks in Montenegro.

Ibrahimović recalled March 22, 2003 and added that it was one of the most significant dates in the recent history of Bosniaks in Montenegro and a turning point on the way to the maturation of national and political consciousness.

He stated that at that time he was at the round table on the topic "Muslims - Bosniaks, what is your name?" adopted the Declaration on the return of the national name Bosniak.

This, as Ibrahimović added, created the conditions to correct the "historical injustice done to the Bosniak people by taking away the right to public use of their national name, which is linked to centuries of glorious history, culture and tradition in these areas".

"But also the prerequisites for defining Bosniaks in Montenegro as a politically sovereign people with a mature national consciousness with the strength and capacity to work institutionally and in every other way to preserve and affirm their national uniqueness, cultural-historical heritage and national, political and all other rights" , Ibrahimovic added.

He said that it is important to point out that the reaffirmation of the national name, and thus the national history, culture and tradition, in Montenegro is an unfinished process burdened by the legacy of the long-term denial of the actual national name.

"And assigning the "appropriate", by denying and not knowing the national history, and by constantly striving for the assimilation of Bosniaks", stated Ibrahimović.

He said that he believes that the results of the population census, which was held at the end of last year, will confirm the level of national consciousness of the Bosniak people in Montenegro.

"That is, that we have matured as a people, aware of our national, religious and linguistic identity", concluded Ibrahimović.
