Mikijelj and Kuljača ask Spajić not to introduce forced administration

The temporary committee of the New Serbian Democracy from Budva sent an urgent letter to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić this morning, requesting that the Government not introduce forced administration in the city because, as they reasoned, the Municipal Assembly, by voting for the Vice-President of the Municipality and adopting the Strategic Plan, fulfilled the conditions of the warning given by the Government.

The letter to Spajić is signed by the vice presidents of the board, Mladen Mikijelj and Nemanja Kuljača.

"At the session held yesterday, the Assembly of the Municipality of Budva considered the decisions expressed in the Government's Warning addressed to the Assembly of the Municipality of Budva and fulfilled two of the three stated conditions: the election of Jasna Dokić as vice-president of the Municipality of Budva and adopted the Strategic Development Plan of the Municipality of Budva 2024-2028. We believe that by adopting these two points, the conditions for the regular functioning of the Municipality of Budva have been achieved. We emphasize that with the election of Jasna Dokić as the vice-president of the Municipality, the third condition has in a certain way lost its meaning, since President Božović will not actually temporarily perform his job after the adopted decisions, which is the essence of the third request that the Government sent to our Municipality", emphasize Mikijelj and Kuljača and add:

"Since there are serious legal dilemmas in relation to the third condition, which have been publicly stated in several addresses, even at the Assembly session itself, and that it is almost impossible to determine its legal basis without appropriate court proceedings, we are of the opinion that the adoption of the previously mentioned decisions fulfilled the spirit of the act in question that the Government sent to the Municipality of Budva. In this way, the Government's intention was fully realized for the work of the Budva Municipal Assembly to be returned to regular flow and to be carried out in accordance with the Law on Local Self-Government in the interest of all citizens", they emphasize.

They ask that Spajić accept their arguments and you state that the Warning achieved the goal that the Government wanted to achieve so that they could, before the upcoming tourist season, prepare Budva to welcome tourists in the best possible way.

"Which is essential for both the Budva and Montenegrin economies. Any political turbulence and instability would cause numerous problems, which none of us want. Also, we ask you to respect the electoral will of the citizens, which is the foundation of every democratic society and the sacred right of every free citizen, and not to take steps that would threaten that right and lead us into a new period of political instability, now that there is a political crisis in Budva solved", they conclude.
