NATO's aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) has opened a "Pandora's box" in the form of new armed conflicts in other parts of the world, as well as disrespect for the sovereignty of states, which are becoming even more pronounced and obvious today, the former Minister of Justice of Montenegro, Marko Kovač, announced today.
"Exactly 25 years ago, the force of law was replaced by the law of force, weapons defeated dialogue and the 'collateral damage' became children, hospitals, schools, diplomatic missions. International law once again showed all its weaknesses and the United Nations (UN) powerlessness. The aggression of the most powerful military alliance against a sovereign state in the heart of Europe has opened a 'Pandora's box' in the form of new armed conflicts in other parts of the world, as well as disrespect for the sovereignty of states, which are becoming even more pronounced and obvious today," said Kovač in a statement submitted to Vijesti.
He added that "today, after a quarter of a century, it remains for us to remember with reverence, and to never forget the tragic victims, as well as all the heroes who gave their lives for the defense of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia".
Today marks the 25th anniversary of the start of the NATO bombing of FRY.
The attacks on Yugoslavia began on March 24, 1999 based on the order of the then NATO Secretary General Javier Solana, and the Government of the FRY declared a state of war the same night.
