Montenegro, as a full member of the Alliance, is committed to credible membership in NATO, as well as to the preservation of good neighborly relations, while advocating mutual respect for national decisions and fostering political dialogue.
This was said by the Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović during a meeting with the Serbian Ambassador to Montenegro, Nebojša Rodić.
Krapović, as announced by the Ministry of Defense, in his conversation with Rodić expressed the expectation that defense cooperation with Serbia will be based on mutual readiness for an active contribution to the preservation of peace and stability in the region.
"He pointed out that Montenegro, as a full member of the Alliance, is committed to credible membership in NATO, as well as to preserving good neighborly relations, while advocating for mutual respect of national decisions and fostering political dialogue. The minister informed the interlocutor that Montenegro is committed to EU integration and unwavering in meeting the necessary conditions for EU accession. Krapović also pointed to the importance of the Berlin process, which, he added, is key to strengthening regional cooperation and further reforms aimed at harmonizing national regulations with EU regulations," the announcement reads.
Rodić, it is added, expressed his belief that cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro will go in the direction of revitalizing bilateral defense relations, with mutual support for defining new modalities of cooperation and mutual respect for national needs and priorities.
"The ambassador also pointed to the importance of regional initiatives for strengthening mutual trust and promoting the active contribution of the countries of the Western Balkans to European security. The interlocutors emphasized areas in which it is possible to strengthen defense cooperation in the coming period, and emphasized mutual readiness to improve good-neighborly relations," it concludes. in the announcement.
