Obtaining the Report on the Fulfillment of Interim Benchmarks (IBAR) will be a clear indicator of progress and an added impulse to the acceleration of the integration process of Montenegro, said President Jakov Milatović.
Milatović said this at a meeting with Austrian Minister of Justice Alma Zadić, where it was announced that the relations between Montenegro and Austria are excellent and friendly.
At the meeting, as announced by Milatović's cabinet, Austria's strong support for Montenegro's European path was confirmed.
Milatović recalled the results achieved by Montenegro in the previous period, especially in the field of strengthening the rule of law and the independence of institutions.
"He added that receiving the IBAR will be a clear indicator of progress and an added impetus to the acceleration of the integration process of our country," the statement said.
Milatović emphasized that Austria's support is also significant through raising the awareness of other members about the importance of strengthening the enlargement policy, when it comes to Montenegro.
Zadić stated that official Vienna appreciates the progress that Montenegro has achieved so far on the internal level and expressed support for further reform processes.
"She added that our country represents an important partner for Austria in the Western Balkans, which by its example provides an important contribution to strengthening the stability and progress of the region," the announcement says.
It is stated that Zadić and Milatović are satisfied with the excellent bilateral cooperation in numerous areas, with emphasis on defense, internal affairs, strengthening the rule of law and improving democratic standards.
"It was pointed out that it is necessary to improve economic cooperation and a greater presence of Austrian investments," the statement added.
