In order to protect national interests, Montenegro must protect the electoral system from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, announced today the international secretary of the Social Democrats (SD) Miloš Đuričković.
"In order to protect its national interests, Montenegro must protect its electoral system. Unfortunately, since 2020, the electoral system in Montenegro has been under strong attacks organized by the regime of Aleksandar Vučić," said Đuričković on the social network Iks.
Serbia's refusal to, as it claims, the only one in the region, to share databases on residences and citizenships makes it impossible for the voter lists to be sorted in a valid way.
"It is clear that only Vučić and his henchmen in Montenegro benefit from double voters. We have been pointing out the existence of an organized army of voters, which has been blackmailed or paid by Vučić, for the purposes of electoral engineering in Montenegro, BiH and Serbia for the past few years" , stated Đuričković.
That their warnings are correct, Đuričković says, was also confirmed by the European Parliament in its resolutions related to the last elections in Serbia.
"It is necessary to implement all available measures in order to neutralize even the smallest influence of the regime in Belgrade on the electoral process in Montenegro. On the contrary, in the next elections Vučić will decide who can be a candidate for president and what the balance of power will be in the parliamentary majority. Demolishing Vučić's instruments of control in Montenegro is the duty of all political actors, as well as individuals, who see Montenegro as an independent state," concludes Đuričković.
