I strongly condemn the threats and inappropriate personal attacks against my colleague, MP Maja Vukićević, which have dominated social networks in recent days, said Simonida Kordić, MP of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) today.
"Differences in political views and debates in that domain are a legitimate part of political life, but it is unacceptable that under the guise of an alleged democratic debate, personal safety, integrity and, last but certainly not least, the freedom of each person to think and express their views are endangered "Threats and attacks, both anonymous and those under full names and surnames, to which my colleague Vukićević is exposed these days, are precisely part of the rhetoric whose goal is to use violence to force women out of politics and public life," Kordić said in a statement.
She added that she expects that the Women's Club of the Parliament of Montenegro, of which she is one of the co-presidents, will condemn these attacks.
"I initiated this not only because Maja Vukićević and I were elected from the same coalition list, but because as politicians, but also as women, we must consistently support freedom of opinion and strongly oppose any violence," said Kordić.
