The deviation of the anti-Western part of the parliamentary majority from the principles of the state's foreign policy is not a surprise, but it is worrying that the Government and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić announce that these parties will soon enter the Government, said the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) parliamentary group Andrija Nikolić.
In a conversation with the Italian ambassador to Montenegro, Andrea Marcela, he said that the long-term confusion in the government system and the complete lack of synchronization in the conduct of state policy have already produced consequences that can be seen through the recently presented drastic drop in citizens' support for NATO.
Marcela, as reported by the DPS, said that Montenegro has a unique opportunity to enter the European Union (EU), bearing in mind the open door guaranteed by both Brussels and the member states.
"Therefore, it is of crucial importance that the opposition maintains a constructive approach when it is necessary to make decisions regarding our country's path to the EU, starting with the report on the assessment of the fulfillment of temporary benchmarks," the announcement states.
Marcela stated that Montenegro is one of the countries that is exposed to a strong disinformation campaign, however, as she stated, many member states and the EU are ready to help Montenegro in dealing with this growing global problem.
"The interlocutors exchanged opinions on challenges to European and regional stability, as well as the internal political situation and the work of the Parliament of Montenegro so far," the announcement says.
