After the intra-party local elections held in the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the municipal committees in the northern region of Montenegro got their new leaders in those positions.
Miro Nedić was elected president of OO DPS Berana, Dejan Ivanović was elected president of OO DPS Andrijevic, president of OO DPS Mojkovac Predrag Smolović, president of OO DPS Bijelo Polje Elvir Zvrko, president of OO DPS Pljevlja Maja Rondović, president of DPS Plužine Dragan Ružić, for the president of DPS Žabljak Vidoje Tomčić, for the president of DPS Gusinja Demir Bajrović, for the president of DPS Rožaja Seniha Tahirović and for the president of DPS Kolašin Vladan Bulatović.
"The elections, in which a party for the first time in our country elected presidents of local committees through direct selection of its membership, were held in a great atmosphere. 63 percent of the total number of registered members with the right to vote in these municipalities exercised their right to vote." , it was announced from DPS.
They add that after the elections in the northern region, internal party elections will also be held in the southern region of Montenegro on Sunday.
"Namely, in the same way as today, i.e. directly in the party's premises as well as through an application specially designed for that purpose, members of the party from the south of our country will elect the presidents of local committees in their districts," the DPS said.
They also state that the reforms in that party are progressing "at a satisfactory pace, and that everything indicates that the electoral process will be brought to an end in a high-quality manner".
"Once again, we point out that with this new way of approaching politics, in addition to achieving the set program goals, DPS has created a new trend that establishes a democratic standard, which, we hope, will be followed by other political entities on the political scene of Montenegro," the announcement concludes.
