At today's session of the Municipal Election Commission (MEC) of Šavnik, the proposed agenda was not adopted.
Members of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) voted for the proposed agenda, while members of the commission from the opposition abstained.
As stated in the press release of the MEC members from the coalition Za budućnost Šavnik i Demokrat, three members of the commission, out of a total of eight, voted for the proposed agenda, while four members abstained. One member did not attend the session.
"Thus, the conditions for the session to be held were not met, which provided for the adoption of the Decision on the announcement of elections for polling station No. 1 of the Šavnik Municipal Council and polling station No. 14 - the Kruševica tavern, due to the fact that the term of office of the Šavnik Municipal Council expired in 2022. year, so it had no legal basis to pass a Decision on the dismissal or appointment of the MEC at the session of the Council of Ministers held on March 20.03.2024, 23.10.2022. We believe that the adoption of the foreseen agenda and the declaration in favor of the proposal for the Decision on calling elections at the mentioned two polling stations would legitimize the Decisions of the Council of Ministers Šavnik. We must not ignore the fact that the circumstances have changed in many ways from the day the elections were announced on October 2024, XNUMX until the eventual holding of new ones in XNUMX. A large number of voters who were registered at the contested polling stations deregistered their residence from Šavnik, so came into a situation where voters participate in elections who on election day do not have a registered residence in the municipality of Šavnik, which is one of the conditions for exercising the right to vote," reads the press release signed by MEC members Nenad Marković, Mira Vuković, Milijana Bulajić and Vukoman Krsmanović.
They remind that the MEC, among other things, also takes into account the legal conduct of elections, so, as they claim, the Decision on calling elections would create even greater legal chaos in the municipality.
The President of the MEC, Dušan Radanović, did not respond to "Vijesti" calls.
