MP of the Europe Now Movement (PES) and co-chairman of the Committee for Comprehensive Electoral Reform, Vasilije Čarapić, called on all political entities that have representatives in the Assembly to start a parliamentary dialogue in order to find a model that would resolve the political crisis in Savnik.
Čarapić stated in the initiative that the crisis in Šavnik is a consequence of the impossibility of completing the elections for councilors that started in October 2022.
He said that, according to the current Montenegrin electoral legislation, it is in principle possible to implement the electoral cycle at the democratic level, although it has proven to be deficient in many segments and there is a general consensus that reforms should be implemented.

However, as he added, elections for councilors in the Assembly of the Municipality of Savnik cannot be held in two polling stations for 19 months already for purely political reasons.
"As it is evident that the problem in Šavnik is predominantly of a political and not a legal nature, I believe that it is justified to conduct a broad political dialogue, all with the aim of reaching a legal solution to this crisis, thus respecting the rule of law as our most important social concept", stated Čarapić.
He said that during all previous attempts to resolve the crisis, which did not yield results, there was no parliamentary dialogue.
"I believe that, as political entities that dictate processes in the country, we also have a social responsibility to start a dialogue now and come to a solution on that basis," Čarapić pointed out.
He sent the initiative for starting a parliamentary dialogue to all clubs of deputies in the Assembly.
