The current parliamentary majority is only declaratively pro-European and pro-NATO oriented, and therefore it is not surprising that almost four years after they came to power, citizens see one of our key partners - the United States of America - as the most serious danger for our country, the Social Democrats (SD) said in announcement delivered to the media.
"Creation of public opinion and how it depends on political processes in the country and those messages that, directly or indirectly, in political discourse or through actions, are sent to us by the political elites, i.e. the government in Montenegro," the announcement states.
That is why, as they say in SD, the research published by RSE is not a surprise for us.
"Citizens of Montenegro, it seems, simply follow what is the essential policy of the parliamentary majority in Montenegro. Although declaratively pro-European and pro-NATO oriented, the current parliamentary majority in Montenegro is, without exception, anything but that. That is why it is not surprising that, after almost 4 years since they came to power and the so-called "liberation" of Montenegro, citizens see one of our key partners, the United States of America, as the most serious danger for our country," SD said.
"Given the fact that Montenegro is a member of the NATO alliance, of which the USA is one of the leaders, such attitudes of Montenegrin citizens, apart from us in the country, should also be a serious alarm for our international partners. Everything is clear to us, and to them, if it hasn't happened so far, it should happen now," the announcement concludes.
