Matica srpska - Association of members in Montenegro appealed to the Government and the parliamentary majority to reject, as they said, the "hypocritical and false" resolution that "applies to us, Serbs, Montenegrins and Herzegovinans, the stigma of a genocidal nation".
"Respected representatives of the authorities in Montenegro, according to rank and dignity, law and justice, historical truth and facts oblige every person, even more so the holders of public functions in the government, and especially those authorities that declare themselves as 'meritocratic'. That is why we appeal to you. that official Montenegro does not support the so-called resolution on Srebrenica, which qualifies a war crime as genocide for geopolitical reasons, in order to cover up the true genocide of the Serbian people in the 20th century, in order to amnesty those who committed that genocide against them, and imposed a sense of guilt and subjugation on the surviving descendants," states the statement signed by Jelica Stojanović, president of Matica Srpska - Association of Members in Montenegro.
"On this occasion, we would like to remind you that the resolution on Srebrenica, together with the 'accidental' Rwanda, is submitted by our 'old acquaintance', Germany, which is a multiple repeater of crimes against the Serbian people during the 20th century, and that the latest act of hostility is equal to the Nazi April XNUMX the bombing of the National Library in Belgrade, which attempted to destroy the historical memory of an entire nation, and which then continued the attempt to physically destroy it," Stojanović announced, adding:
"We believe that you are aware that the Federal Government of Germany is submitting to the UN General Assembly a draft resolution according to which July 11 would be declared the 'International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica', at the moment when the lawsuit filed by Nicaragua at the International Court of Justice against Germany was adopted "for aiding and abetting the genocide" in Gaza - where 10.000 women and 14.000 children were killed in a few months. At the same time, the same German government - without referring to the statement of Efraim Zuroff, head of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Jerusalem, given on the occasion of the Srebrenica resolution, namely that 'not every war crime is a case of genocide' - shamelessly rejects Nicaragua's indictment against it 'for aiding and abetting genocide' in Gaza."
She also asked "if this behavior of Germany - as well as the countries of the new axis that are the 'sponsors' of the Srebrenica resolution - is not cynicism and hypocrisy unprecedented in the recent history of international relations".
"Isn't Montenegro's potential support for that hypocrisy and cynicism a disregard for justice and law, historical truth and facts? Isn't convincing the citizens of Montenegro that support for German cynicism and hypocrisy will bring reconciliation in Montenegro itself and its neighborhood something even blacker and worse than of cynicism and hypocrisy," it added.
He says that, "for a free and somewhat politically literate public opinion in Montenegro", the answers to these questions are "unequivocally affirmative".
"Therefore, you should listen to that voice, as the voice of conscience and reject the hypocritical and false resolution that attaches to us, the Serbs, Montenegrins and Herzegovinans, the stigma of a genocidal nation, and be aware of the personal moral, political and historical responsibility that you will permanently and unforgivably bear if you turn a deaf ear to that voice of self-respect and decide to throw the libertarian, dignified, disobedient, Svetosava and Njegoševo Montenegro under the feet of other people's interests, and thus with your own hands once again concrete the pits and erase the execution grounds where our ancestors suffered a martyr's death from those whose descendants today, the proponents of the Srebrenica resolution," the announcement concludes.
