The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, will be in the United States next week. His cabinet announced that Milatović will have meetings with numerous senators and congressmen.
Taking into account the importance of the USA as a key foreign policy partner of Montenegro, as they said, the main topics of the meetings include strengthening the strategic partnership between Montenegro and the USA, with an emphasis on the USA's support for the Montenegrin reform process.
"Special emphasis will be placed on intensifying cooperation in the field of security, rule of law and expansion of economic cooperation," the announcement states.
It is added that this visit at the same time strongly confirms Montenegro's commitment to credible membership in NATO and reform processes on the way to full membership in the European Union.
"The great interest of representatives of the US Congress in Montenegro indicates strong support for the social development of our country, including the reform agenda, democratization and integration into the EU," the announcement reads.
As part of his stay in the USA, Milatović will hold a lecture at Johns Hopkins University (SAIS), will be the guest of honor at a special session of the Atlantic Council, and as the youngest head of a member state of the Alliance, will open the NATO Youth Summit in Florida.
