Today, the meeting of the leaders of the parliamentary majority in the Assembly did not reach concrete conclusions on open issues, including the resolutions on the genocide in Srebrenica and Jasenovac.
The President of the Assembly and the leader of the New Serbian Democracy Andrija Mandić expects that many things will become clearer after the meeting of regional leaders on Thursday in Kotor, which will be attended by representatives of Brussels and Washington.
Mandić, when asked by TV Vijesta whether a resolution on the genocide in Jasenovac, which he announced earlier, is expected in the parliament, replied that there are several proposals, and that all open issues should be resolved through dialogue within the majority.
At the meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, in addition to Mandić, there were other leaders of the majority parties: Milojko Spajić, Aleksa Bečić, Milan Knežević, Vladimir Joković, Nik Đeljošaj.
"The most important thing and what was agreed at the meeting is that we will work together and that there are no problems that we should not solve together. There are many challenges facing the parliamentary majority, it should not be hidden that there are also differences between us on certain topics that do not predominantly concern what is happening or happened in Montenegro, the relationship that exists towards certain national communities that at this moment estimate that a certain policy that was announced by the Government does not have the support of the Serbian people in Montenegro in particular, but, I say, we have decided and agreed to solve it all through an agreement of all the factors in the parliamentary majority. We will have a meeting of the leaders of the region the day after tomorrow, there will be a representative of a very important international community, it is especially important that there will be a representative of the United States, Mr. O'Brien, and we believe that After that conversation, many things will be clearer about how to solve the problems in the region itself and how to respond to the policy led by Montenegro, which is the policy of quick accession of Montenegro to the European Union," Mandic said.
He said "a lot of things" were said today.
"There was also talk about the resolution on Srebrenica, that was the dominant topic. There was talk about the resolution in Jasenovac, but those are the stories we discussed. We did not reach agreement on all those topics, because it is important for us to see how the government that leads the internal and foreign policy of Montenegro at a meeting with all the leaders of the region, that is, with our neighbors, who are also important to us, in a conversation with the representatives of the international community, to succeed in positioning Montenegro for what is to come the thing is the European way, which means higher salaries, better infrastructure, peace and stability, that is what should mark the future of Montenegro. This government should ensure that stability the full mandate lasts in an expanded, of course, composition and that the Government, which can ensure the stability and development of Montenegro, should find ways not to deal with some topics that could divert Montenegro from its basic path to some a detour or some backwater that is not to the benefit of the citizens of Montenegro," added the President of the Assembly.
When asked if it is a condition not to vote for the resolution on Srebrenica, he answers:
"I will tell you what the conditions are when this meeting of the leaders of the region is over. We, the Serbian politicians in Montenegro, do not see the resolution on Srebrenica and the attempt to declare the Serbs in Montenegro a genocidal nation, not as a friendly act, but as a big problem and that we are trying to explain to everyone, not excluding and not wanting anyone to minimize a terrible crime that happened in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We as a people, I mean the Serbian people, are the people that suffered the most in these areas, but the future implies the joint work of Serbs and Montenegrins and Bosniaks and Albanians and all national communities, in fact all people of good will".
When asked if there will be a resolution on Jasenovac, he says:
"There are several proposals related to that resolution, you know that we also announced, there are several proposals, but I say that it is all a matter of discussion and we will see what will happen in the end and how Montenegro and its government will behave in relation to all that which should be the confrontation with the past and the nurturing of memory that is necessary for us."
