Montenegrin diplomacy permanently shows determination and commitment to the principles of multilateralism, with a constant professional and human relationship to overcome conflicts in the world, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Filip Ivanović.
Today, he hosted a reception in Cetinje to mark the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Prince's Office for Foreign Affairs of Montenegro.
The reception, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MVP), gathered members of the diplomatic corps, former ministers of foreign affairs, former and current ambassadors, representatives of the Capital of Cetnja, as well as numerous other dignitaries, including Prince Nikola Petrović-Njegoš.
Ivanović pointed out that a jubilee worthy of respect is being marked with special emotion in the Montenegrin capital, the core of Montenegrin statehood and independence, from where, he added, the first diplomatic notes written by the visionary hand of Montenegrin intelligent rulers and trained diplomats originated.
Ivanović reminded that the "Voice of the Montenegrin" from March 30, 1874 brought valuable testimony about the reform of the then Senate and the new organization of the state administration of the Principality of Montenegro, and the formation of the Principality's office for foreign affairs, which will be the nucleus of the future Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"With respect, today, we pay tribute to the outstanding figures of Montenegrin diplomacy of that era: the head of the Office for Foreign Affairs and the first minister of foreign affairs of the Principality of Montenegro, duke Stanko Radonjić," Ivanović said.
He added that honor is also given to the ministers of foreign affairs, Duke Gavro Vuković, Lazar Tomanović, Dušan Gregović, Evgeni Popović, Anto Gvozdenović, Per Šoć, Petar Plamenac.
"And to other excellent diplomats who permanently elevated themselves to bright role models of our history and gave it a personal stamp, including the brilliant Montenegrin ambassadors from the time of Yugoslavia," Ivanović added.
He emphasized that today's manifestation, organized to meet the Independence Day of Montenegro, represents a kind of Montenegrin Diplomacy Day.
It is stated that Ivanovic reminded of the essential role and importance of consistent diplomacy in preserving sovereignty and implementing foreign policy priorities, with an emphasis on credible membership of Montenegro in NATO, as well as strong aspirations for full membership in the European Union.
Ivanović pointed out that Montenegro, an ancient, Mediterranean country, essentially inheriting the lofty values of a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional society, contributes to good neighborly relations, regional cooperation and stability with its full capacity.

He added that Montenegro conducts its mission in international relations and complex geopolitical challenges principled, persistent and in the spirit of mutual respect.
"With attention and sensibility focused on security, peace, democratic development, respect for human rights, preservation of dignity, freedom and more prosperous life of Montenegro and humanity, while affirming the universal values of human society", stated Ivanović.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in cooperation with the State Archives of Montenegro, as part of today's reception, numerous exhibits testifying to the rich history of Montenegrin diplomacy were exhibited.
